2 dead in plane crash near Merritt: RCMP

Mounties say two people are dead after a small plane crashed north of the airport in Merritt, B.C. Sunday night.
The RCMP says officers received reports of the incident involving a two-seat homebuilt amphibious aircraft around 7 p.m.
When first responders arrived at the crash site, about two kilometres north of the airport and east of Highway 5A, they found both the pilot and a passenger had died.
The Transportation Safety Board and BC Coroners Service have been called in to look into the circumstances around the crash.
The cause of the crash has yet to be identified.
