Calgary Transit passenger injured by vehicle after failing to retrieve bag from departing bus

A Calgary Transit bus passenger was seriously injured after falling into the rear wheel of a vehicle while trying to get his bag back Saturday, police say.

Officers say they got calls about the incident at around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of northbound Macleod Trail SE and 11 Avenue.

They determined the passenger, a 57-year-old man, was seriously injured after he left the bus.

Investigators say the man placed his bag on the floor of the bus while preparing to leave. After the bus stopped and the man exited, he realized he had forgotten his bag.

While the man tried to get it back, the doors closed on him.

However, police say after the bus drove off, the man fell into a “rear wheel” and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

It’s unclear what kind of injuries he sustained and what vehicle injured him.

CPS was unable to provide more information to 660 NewsRadio.

Officers believe alcohol, on the part of the passenger, was a factor in the collision.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
