Police are asking for help identifying a person of interest and a stolen quad in connection with a deadly shooting east of Calgary earlier this week.

In an update Friday, Strathmore RCMP have released a photo of male they believe has information that can help investigators in Tuesday’s fatal double shooting north of Chestermere.

Investigators say the pictured person was seen in Cochrane on Monday morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

RCMP are also investigating the theft of a quad in connection to the shooting. Police say the quad was stolen from a property in Wheatland County around 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, before a witness saw a male driving it.

“We have a significant number of resources throughout the province focused on apprehending these subjects and on protecting the public,” reads a release from RCMP. “We ask that the public remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”

Saturday morning, RCMP issued an update saying the stolen quad had been recovered near Didsbury.

Police are also looking to speak with the occupants of a car that they say may have witnessed the shooting.

Investigators say a dark grey-coloured 2013 to 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagon was driving by Range Road 282 and Township Road 250 around noon on Tuesday, the same time the shooting happened.

The shooting north of Chestermere left one man dead and another with non-life-threatening injuries. The pair have been identified as a Rocky View County worker and a FortisAlberta employee.

Police believe two suspects fled the shooting scene in a stolen Rocky View County fleet vehicle that was later found abandoned in a rural area north of Strathmore.

pickup truck that was stolen in Calgary a day earlier is also believed to be connected to the incident. RCMP say the truck was stolen from a home in the 400 block of Abadan Place NE, in the Abbeydale community, around 5:55 a.m. Monday.

It is described as a white 2013 Dodge Ram with teal-coloured aftermarket rims and shell shaped lug nuts.

Police say they are not looking for the truck, only asking for anyone who may have dashcam or security footage of the vehicle between the time it was stolen and the time of the shooting to contact Strathmore RCMP.
