More charges laid in death of Calgary man in Rocky View County

A second person has been charged with murder following the death of a Calgary man earlier this year.

Another man has been charged with murder in the death of a Calgary man this spring.

The body of 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling was found on April 3, 2024 in Rocky View County when the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241.

When crews extinguished the flames, they discovered human remains. Days later, the victim was identified as Schuiling and his death was deemed a homicide.

Alberta RCMP now say 37-year-old Tyler Griffiths of Vernon, B.C. is facing a charge of first degree murder in the Calgary man’s death. He is the second person charged by police in the case; 39-year-old Christopher Stack of Calgary was charged with first-degree murder back in May.

Griffiths was taken into custody following a release hearing and is set to appear in Calgary court on Thursday, Aug. 29.
