3 teens injured in St. Albert shooting after ‘brief confrontation’: police
Police say a 17-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being shot early Monday morning in St. Albert.
St. Albert RCMP say two other teenagers – a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy – were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
All three minors were in a vehicle at the time of the shooting, which took place around 12:50 a.m. on Hunchak Way in the Heritage Lakes neighbourhood of St. Albert.

Investigators believe the teens were in a vehicle on Grovesner Boulevard when they “had a very brief confrontation” with the suspect vehicle, which police are describing as a white van with tinted windows.
The van then followed the teens to Levasseur Road and Grandin Road, according to police.
“The van pulled up next to the teens and gun shots were heard,” RCMP said in a news release. “The suspect vehicle fled the area west on Levasseur Road. The victims drove onto Hunchak Way where they awaited emergency services.”
“They heard gun shots and their windows were smashed and ultimately they suffered their injuries,” Alberta RCMP public information officer Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told reporters late Monday afternoon.
“These individuals are victims.”

RCMP are asking residents for video footage – of those areas between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. – that could be relevant to the investigation, such as the white van or “anything suspicious.”
“We are looking for video surveillance from anybody in the Grosvenor, Grandin, the Riel or the Heritage Lakes subdivisions, asking you to look at your video surveillance,” Savinkoff said. Please let us know if you see this white van with toned windows or anything else that might be suspicious.”
Anyone with video or information is asked to call the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700.
