Power restored for thousands in NE Calgary after semi-truck crashes into pole

More than 2,000 people were without power in northeast Calgary on Thursday afternoon after a truck crashed into a pole.

According to Enmax, the outage was first reported around 1:30 p.m. and impacted the communities of Marlborough, Forest Heights, Marlborough Park, Franklin and Meridian.

The power was restored just after 5 p.m. The company said nearly 2,400 customers were affected.

Calgary Fire confirmed the outage was caused by a semi-truck hitting a power pole near 28 Street NE and 7 Avenue NE. No injuries were reported in the crash.

Enmax was on scene through the afternoon doing repairs and fire crews were also in the area to “ensure scene safety.”
