First-degree murder suspect in Lethbridge motel death turns herself in

Lethbridge police say a suspect accused of first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in a motel room on Boxing Day in a targeted incident has turned herself in Friday.

Two men are already in custody charged with first-degree murder, including one who was picked up by police as he left a correctional facility following a brief stint for another crime.

Police discovered a body on the ground room floor of the Superlodge along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South on Dec. 28. The victim has been identified as Christina Webber.

Investigators later determined Webber was killed two days prior on Dec. 26. Police say two men, now in custody facing first-degree murder charges, and a woman sought on an arrest warrant — also for first-degree murder, are known to the victim.

It is alleged the three went to her motel room armed with a firearm. Officers say a deadly altercation followed, leading to Webber’s death. It was deemed a homicide after an autopsy was done in Calgary.

The three “removed property” from the room and fled in an SUV, which was later found in flames along the 500 block of 7 Avenue South, according to police.

Drew Austin Water, 28, of Cranbrook, B.C., was arrested on Dec. 28. He was taken in as he was leaving the Lethbridge Correctional Centre after serving a weekend sentence for unrelated offences. He faces first-degree murder, arson, and firearm possession charges.

Kyle Douglas Doddridge, a 36-year-old Lethbridge man, was arrested two days later after a brief standoff with police at a home on the north end of town. He faces first-degree murder and arson charges.

Melissa Christelle Tidlund, a 23-year-old woman from Pincher Creek, now faces first-degree murder and arson charges.
