    A garbage truck struck a rail bridge in downtown Calgary Wednesday. 

    A downtown intersection has reopened Wednesday morning after is was closed between crash between a garbage truck and a rail bridge.

    The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says just after 6 a.m., crews were dispatched to 10 Avenue and 1 Street SW after a garbage truck hit the bridge while driving underneath.

    The damage to the vehicle resulted in hydraulic fluid leaking onto the road, according to CFD.

    The department’s haz mat crew was sent to the scene and Alberta Environment was also notified.

    CP Rail stopped rail travel in the area for a few hours while a structural engineer was dispatched to assess the bridge.

    Calgary police closed northbound 1 Street at 10 Avenue SW, while southbound remained open.

    No injuries have been reported.
