Calgary’s largest youth hiring fair is fast approaching, aiming to give young Calgarians the chance to step into the workforce.
The event is Thursday March 27 from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Big Four Building at Stampede Park.
It’s designed for high school students, recent graduates, post-secondary students, and young adults to get a job.
In the 26 years of the event, the city says more than 97,000 youth have been connected with jobs across 2,000 employers.
“As Calgary’s youth continue to shape our city’s future, the Youth Hiring Fair plays a crucial role in helping them access opportunities that align with their talents and aspirations,” Heather Johnson, director of recreation & social Programs at The City of Calgary, said. “This event not only connects them with employers but also builds the foundation for future career growth, helping our city’s youth develop the skills they need to thrive.”
Youth Employment Centre (YEC) team lead, Tara Huxley, says those who prepare in advance will have a competitive edge at the fair.
“Our free services, including resume assistance, job search strategies and interview coaching, are designed to equip young job seekers with the tools they need to make a lasting impression,” she explained.
Those that are interested are invited to visit the YEC at 315 10 Avenue SE before the event to utilize the services.
The city says the YEC team is prepared to help with perfecting resumes and building interview skills.
