Despite the calendar flipping to April, Calgary could be in for some winter-like weather starting Tuesday.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says heavy snowfall is expected for parts of Alberta.
In Calgary, precipitation is expected to start as a rain/snow mix in the afternoon before change to heavy snow in the evening, the weather agency says.
According to the ECCC, general amounts of five to 10 centimetres are expected, but up to 15 centimetres is possible in some areas.
Snowfall amounts will be highly variable throughout the city.
Quickly building snow could make travel difficult in some areas and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow, the ECCC adds.
Drivers are advised to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
Residents should also take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.
Current ECCC forecasts project the snow could continue through to Wednesday and Thursday.
