Power restored to downtown Calgary after afternoon outage

Hundreds of buildings were in the dark in downtown Calgary on Friday afternoon due to a power outage.

Enmax says the outage began around 3:50 p.m. and impacted parts of the commercial core, downtown west end and Sunalta.

More than 650 customers were affected, according to Enmax.

The power was restored for most customers around 5 p.m.

Enmax says the outage was caused by damaged equipment. A storm with lightning and heavy rain rolled through downtown Calgary Friday afternoon just before the power went out.
