Calgary police investigate downtown high-rise building death

Calgary police are investigating an incident at a high-rise building that led to a man’s death early Sunday.
Officers say they were called to the building on the 1100 block of 3 Street SE at around 5 a.m. on reports of a man falling off a high-rise balcony.
When they arrived, he was found in medical distress, taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, and eventually died of his injuries.
Officers are not sure of the circumstances leading to his death at this time.
Road closures are expected for several hours as the police homicide unit investigates.
The closures were on 3 Street SE between 11 and 12 avenues, and 12 Avenue between Macleod Trail and Olympic Way. Roads reopened just after 1 p.m. Sunday.
