Calgary police are still looking into the chain of events which led to the death of a 2-year-old girl in the city's northeast Monday evening.

A toddler is dead after being hit by a vehicle outside her home in northeast Calgary on Monday night.

Emergency crews were called to Taradale Drive NE near Taravista Way around 6:55 p.m. for reports of a young child being hit by a vehicle.

Calgary police say a white truck was driving through a back alley when the driver made a right turn and hit a two-year-old girl who was in the alleyway behind her house.

The girl was rushed to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in critical condition and eventually died from her injuries.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was not hurt and remained at the scene.
