Meet Chinook

How long have you been with The City?

I’ve been with Animal Services since May, and I’ve made quite the impression. The volunteers say I’m unforgettable-and not just because of my fluffy white coat and movie-star good looks!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m 5 years old and a Husky mix with a bold spirit and an independent streak (classic northern breed stuff). I’m neutered, about 60 pounds, and built for adventure. I like to take my time getting to know new people, but once we bond, I’m a total softie who loves a good snuggle and belly rub.

What are your typical daily tasks?

Every day starts with a burst of excitement-I’m vocal, eager to run, and I mark every tree I pass (hey, it’s important work spreading Pee-Mail!). Once I get my energy out, I settle in and enjoy the walk. I’ll happily lean into your leg for pets or take a shady break with you. I’m not super into treats, but I am into your company.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I love exploring outside, sniffing everything, and letting the world know I’m here. I’ve got a thing for squirrels and gophers and like to keep an eye on them. I’m not that into commands right now, but with some training (and patience), I’ll learn-I’m smart, just selective! I’m also very into brushing (with this coat, it’s a must).

What are you looking for in a home?

I’m looking for an experienced, adult-only home that understands independent dogs like me. A securely fenced backyard is a must, and daily leash walks keep me happy. I’m not ready for off-leash dog parks or busy households, but with time and structure, I’ll be the most loyal, affectionate adventure buddy you could ask for.
