Calgary police are looking for witnesses in two northwest cannabis store robberies in the city this month.
The first incident was on Wednesday, Aug. 13 around noon, when two male suspects — believed to be teens — walked into Tower Cannabis at 159 Carrington Plaza NW.
Investigators believe the suspects entered the store wearing face coverings and assaulted the employee while threatening him with a gun. The pair took an undisclosed amount of product from the store and left the area in an unknown vehicle.
The second robbery happened a week later, on Aug. 20, just after 5:10 p.m., at Canna Cabana at 101 Sage Valley Common NW.
In that case, police say five male teens entered the store with their faces covered. Two of them were armed with handguns. Police say the teens threatened an employee and a lone customer in the store with the guns.
The suspects forced the employee to open the till, and left in a red SUV with an unknown amount of cash and cannabis products.
Witnesses described the suspects in the second incident as tall males with dark skin tones. All had their faces covered and were wearing gloves.
Investigators are still working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the robberies, who may have dashcam footage from the area where the incidents occurred, or who knows the identity of the suspects, to come forward to police in hopes of advancing the investigation.
