A northeast Calgary property has been shuttered by Alberta Sheriffs after causing several issues for the community over the last few years.

The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit of the Alberta Sheriffs secured a court order against the owner of 5128 Maryvale Drive NE.

From March 2023 to March 2025, Calgary police received 45 calls for service at this property.

Community members complained of suspected drug and criminal activity even after a warning was issued by SCAN last November.

Officers say they’ve seen activity consistent with illegal drug trafficking and abuse occurring at the property.

“This residence had a significant amount of criminal activity associated to it, including violence, and drug and property offences, which deeply affected the surrounding community’s sense of safety. The closure of this residence is an important step towards ensuring that neighbouring residents feel safe while out in the community and we’d like to thank the community for their support as we worked alongside our partners at the Alberta Sheriffs to address these concerns,” said Calgary Police Service Acting Insp. Lee Dunbar.

The property will be closed for 90 days, starting Monday. The order will be in effect until Jan. 14, 2026.

Everyone must leave the property, including the owner.

Sheriffs say the house is boarded up, fenced, and all locks will be changed.

SCAN members will continue to monitor the property for activity while the investigation continues.

Community safety order conditions are in effect until Jan. 14, 2028.
