A man has died from his injuries following a crash between a pedestrian and a large truck in southeast Calgary on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. in the loading bay of a commercial property on Hastings Crescent SE, close to 43 Avenue SE.
Investigators believe a semi truck with a chassis trailer, operated by a man in his 30s, was backing into a loading dock area at a warehouse. At the same time, a 69-year-old man walked behind the truck and trailer to prepare a spring-loaded ramp on the loading dock, when he was hit by the backing vehicle.
Emergency crews arrived on scene and rushed the man to Foothills Medical Centre in critical condition.
Police later confirmed the man died from his injuries in hospital.
The driver of the truck wasn’t hurt and stayed at the scene.
Calgary police are investigating the cause of the crash, along with Occupational Health and Safety.
