Five charged after police seize $89K in drugs from SW Calgary homes

Five people are facing numerous charges following a massive drug seizure at a SW Calgary home.

Calgary police have charged five people after seizing nearly $90,000 worth of illegal drugs during an investigation at a residential complex.

The investigation began in September 2025 after reports of drug activity at a building near Elbow Drive SW and Glenmore Trail.

Officers soon learned one of the individuals believed to be involved was wanted on multiple warrants connected to earlier court matters. Additional suspects were later identified.

On Nov. 16, police arrested one suspect on outstanding warrants. Less than a week later, officers executed search warrants on two units within the complex.

Police say the searches uncovered $89,000 worth of drugs, including:

  • 756 grams of cocaine (estimated value $75,620)
  • 774.3 grams of methamphetamine (estimated value $5,200)
  • 12.2 grams of fentanyl (estimated value $1,025)
  • 702 millilitres of GHB (estimated value $3,515)
  • 30 tabs of LSD (estimated value $300)
  • 148 benzodiazepine pills (estimated value $740)
  • 139.5 hydromorphone pills (estimated value $2,790)
  • Four oxycodone pills (estimated value $80)

Officers also seized $3,615 in cash, scales, packaging materials, cellphones and a conducted energy weapon.

Five people now face a total of 32 drug and weapons‑related charges.

  • Shane Gordon Cowan, 45, is charged with possession of cocaine, opioids, methamphetamine and other drugs for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
  • Lauren Frances Herzog, 36, is charged with possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and other drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
  • Lucas Pinheiro da Silva, 30, is charged with possession of cocaine, opioids, methamphetamine and other drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
  • Robert Markiewicz, 52, is charged with possession of cocaine, opioids and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Chelsey Dawn Salm, 31, is charged with possession of cocaine, opioids and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, along with failing to comply with a release order.

The accused are all expected to appear in court in January.
