Tim Hortons brings back Special Olympics donut to support programs for athletes

Tim Hortons is bringing back its Special Olympics donut, which donates 100 per cent of proceeds to programs for Canadian athletes.

The three-day donut sale, back for its seventh year, runs until Feb. 1.

Tim Hortons says the proceeds support year-round programs for over 40,000 athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities in communities across Canada, meant to train, compete and build confidence and connections on and off the field of play.

It also says the chocolate cake ring donut’s white fondant, coloured sprinkles, and white topping are designed to reflect themes of diversity and inclusion — central to the Special Olympics mission.

To date, Tim Hortons has donated $5.2 million to Special Olympics programs.
