Masked intruder torches Calgary autobody shop, police seek witnesses

A late‑night break‑in at a northeast Calgary autobody shop resulted in a damaging fire, and investigators are now working to identify a suspect.

Calgary police say a masked suspect forced their way into a business on 12 Street NE just south of McKnight Blvd around 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 19.

Once inside, the suspect is believed to have deliberately set a fire before fleeing.

The fire caused significant damage to the shop and three unoccupied vehicles parked outside.

Investigators have released an image of the suspect and are appealing to the public for help identifying the person responsible.
