Alberta breaking all-time monthly records with unseasonably warm winter

Alberta is breaking some warm weather records for the month of February, surpassing 20 degrees Celsius in some communities.
Lethbridge was a little warmer than 20 C on Thursday, breaking a monthly heat record set in 1962.
On top of the five monthly records broken, there were more than two dozen daily broken records as well.
The province is dealing with a ridge of pressure over Western Canada that is bringing in warmer air than normal.
That’s a stark comparison to the chill in places like Quebec’s Pingualuit National Park, which dropped below -30 C.
It’s unclear how long Alberta’s warmth will last, but forecasted weather is hinting at mild conditions for the province’s south.
“Daily records fall more often than a monthly record would, but we are still seeing a very large number of daily records, so it is a pretty significant stretch of heat here,” Christy Climenhaga of Environment Canada said Friday.
