Mounties in Raymond say a Calgary man was killed in a targeted shooting in the town south of Lethbridge — hours from his home city — on Saturday.
A 911 caller saying they heard 20 “pops” and people shouting in a matter of minutes led officers from Raymond, Coaldale, Picture Butte and Cardston to the town roughly three hours away from Calgary at 2:18 a.m.
A 22-year-old was found dead in the shooting.
They also say Lethbridge police are investigating the city’s Chinook Regional Hospital after a 26-year-old Calgary man checked in with a gunshot wound that morning.
“We believe this may be related to the Raymond shooting,” says RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney.
RCMP say the incident is believed to be targeted and isolated.
Meanwhile, anyone with information or footage is asked to contact the Raymond RCMP at 403-752-4747 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or with the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
