Road construction and traffic safety

The City of Calgary is taking precautionary measures around two segments of Bearspaw feeder main pipe that have an enhanced level of deterioration.

These segments have experienced one new wire snap each detected by fiber optic monitoring.

As the city continues to operate the pipe in its current condition and scenario plan, it says risk mitigation strategies will continue to evolve.

A detour has been put in place around the location of the two segments to support risk mitigation.

Traffic impacts due to the detour include:

  • Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. exit ramp to Sarcee closed.
  • Traffic will be detoured to 29 Avenue N.W.

The detour will be in place until further notice. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Below are some of the unrelated road construction and closures in that will be in effect this long weekend. For a complete list, visit calgary.ca/trafficinfo
