A family is rejoicing after a piece of precious stolen memorabilia was found in a pawn shop.
Diana Hart posted to social media Friday that the late British Bulldog AKA Davey Boy Smith’s WWE Hall of Fame ring had been located in a Lloydminster pawn shop.
A member of the family tells CityNews there is a suspect in custody.
A trailer carrying gear and memorabilia belonging to Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE) talent was broken into in the area Wednesday morning.
Several items, including a Hart Foundation leather vest, Harry Smith’s (Davey Boy Smith Jr.) wrestling gear, and a CWE tag team championship belt, were later found discarded in a dumpster. The ring was the most valuable item.
“These are once‑in‑a‑lifetime items,” said CWE owner Danny Duggan. “These are items that can’t be replaced.”
Harry Smith, son of the legendary British Bulldog and a member of the Hart/Smith wrestling dynasty, told CityNews at the time that the loss was devastating.
“You know, a huge piece of history,” Smith said. “It’s like losing or having someone steal a Super Bowl ring. It’s that same prestige and honour… and somebody stole it. But they made a mistake.”
The ring is engraved with the names of Smith, his mother, and his sister, a detail that makes it both deeply personal and nearly impossible to value.
“That’s a priceless item,” Smith said. “I can’t even put a value on it.”
The theft comes less than a year after bronze plaques were reportedly stolen from the historic Hart family home in southwest Calgary.
