Suspect identified after woman sexually assaulted in NE Calgary

Police say they have found a man who is believed to have sexually assaulted a woman in northeast Calgary.

According to investigators, the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, as the woman was walking near Abbeydale Drive and Abbotsford Drive NE.

Police say an unknown man approached the woman, made sexually explicit comments, then followed her and touched her without consent.

Investigators released suspect information on Wednesday afternoon, asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect. Hours later, they said the person they were looking for reached out to police.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call 403‑266‑1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
