Boil water advisory lifted for SW Calgary

By CityNews Staff

A boil water advisory impacting three neighbourhoods in southwest Calgary has been lifted after several days.

At least 500 homes and 10 businesses in Spruce Cliff, Wildwood, and Rosscarrock were told to boil their water before using it starting Friday following a water outage.

City of Calgary labs, in collaboration with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, have tested and confirmed that the water in these communities passed water quality testing and is safe to consume.

The city says those who have used your household or business water in the past 24 hours, it can now be safely consumed without boiling.

Those who haven’t used their systems in the last 24 hours need to flush their system. To do so, according to officials, turn the bathtub on cold for 10 minutes. Then, turn all other faucets on cold for five minutes.

Businesses without a bathtub or shower should turn all faucets on cold for 10 minutes.

This incident was not related to repairs currently underway to the Bearspaw South Feeder Main.
