Calgary man who posted illegal guns to social media arrested and charged

A Calgary man has been busted for his connection to organized crime and owning several illegal guns after posing with them on social media.

Jesse C. Bain, 37, was arrested on March 5 by police during the execution of a search warrant at a property on Home Road NW.

During the search, officers found a loaded GSG-16 .22 calibre rifle, a Savage Axis .308 calibre rifle (confirmed to be stolen), a Stevens Model 320 sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, a 1897 12-gauge shotgun, an operational taser, body armour, and 3D printed brass knuckles.

Police also found a loaded Glock 30 .45 calibre handgun was also seized from Bain’s vehicle.

The Calgarian has been charged with two counts of breaching a firearms prohibition order, and one count each of unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of firearm with a defaced serial number and unlawful possession of body armour.

“Our officers acted quickly to remove a significant threat from the community,” said Staff Sgt. Matt Gow of the Calgary Police Service Gun Violence Enforcement Team. “Our priority is always to keep Calgarians safe, and thanks to the collaboration and thorough police work from numerous areas across the Service, we’re grateful this situation was resolved safely.”

Bain is set to appear in court on Tuesday.
