A collision involving several vehicles in Calgary’s northwest Monday morning has resulted in minor injuries and a road closure.
144 Avenue NW has been closed in both directions between 85 Street and Sarcee Trail NW due to the crash.
Alex Kwan with the Calgary Fire Department says crews were dispatched just before 7:30 a.m. to 144 Avenue NW between 85 Street NW and 69 Street for a multi-vehicle crash.
When crews arrived, they found two school buses, one commercial vacuum truck, one dump truck, and two passenger vehicles were involved.
One bus had a driver and 13 students on board.
Paramedics sent multiple ambulances to assess those involved. Minor injuries were reported among the occupants of the bus.
Five people were taken to hospital.
No other injuries were reported to the drivers and occupants of the other vehicles.
Police, the fire department, and emergency health services are working to move all occupants to a transit bus.
Kwan says crews are also working to contact families of the students.
