Additional charges on Winnipeg man who allegedly posted death threats against PM Carney

Police say they have laid three additional charges on Winnipeg man who allegedly made death threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney on social media.
Jason Paul Rindall, 55, was arrested Feb. 13 and charged with uttering threats to cause death. Last month, police said that he also allegedly incited hatred towards the Muslim and Jewish communities in posts on X.
On Friday, RCMP Northwest announced three additional charges against Rindall.
- Advocating genocide contrary to section 318(1) of the Criminal Code;
- Wilful promotion of hatred contrary to section 319(2) of the Criminal Code; and,
- Uttering a threat to Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney to cause death contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Rindall remains in custody and is scheduled to make his next appearance at the Winnipeg Provincial Court on April 24, 2026.
The investigation is ongoing.
