Human teeth among items stolen in Calgary break-and-enters

Three people have been charged in a bizarre case in Calgary that involved stealing human teeth.
Calgary police say between Jan. 5 and 26, four businesses in the northeast communities of Vista Heights were broken into and had nearly $235,000 worth of property stolen.
Investigators tell CityNews the four businesses broken into deal in purchasing precious metals. Some of those precious metals they purchase are in extracted teeth, either from living or deceased individuals.
Investigators executed search warrants on two homes and two vehicles on 17 Avenue SW on Jan. 27 and Jan. 30.
During the search, officers recovered rare coins, laptops, tools and equipment consistent with melting down precious medals, and human teeth that had valuable metals removed.
The recovered items total about $35,000, police say.
Charged in the case are 43-year-old Steven Edward Hart, Alston Jason Van Wezel, and 49-year-old Erin Lindsay Emerson. Members of the trio are facing various charges, including break and enter, breaching a judicial order, and drug possession.
