Teen facing second degree murder charge after woman found dead west of Calgary

A teen has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found dead on a property west of Calgary over the weekend.

Cochrane RCMP say they were called to a home on the Mini Thni Stoney First Nation around 7 p.m. Sunday for reports of a family disturbance.

Officers arrived to find a woman dead in a secondary residence on the property. A suspect was arrested shortly afterward in a nearby wooded area.

An autopsy conducted Monday determined the death was a homicide.

The victim has since been identified as 38‑year‑old Kayla Rothe of Calgary.

Jorge Twoyoungmen, 18, a resident of Mini Thni, is now charged with second‑degree murder in connection with Rothe’s death.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
