Hundreds of teams are expected to run, walk, or wheel for Calgary’s 49th annual Sport Chek Mother’s Day race this Sunday.
One of the city’s largest family fundraising events kicks off on May 10 at 9 a.m. at CF Chinook Centre with the 10-kilometre trek, followed by the five-kilometre one at 9:15 a.m., and a kids’ race at 10:30 a.m.
The Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run, Walk & Wheel supports both the Canadian Tire Jumpstart charities and the Calgary Health Foundation. Just over $22,000 has been raised for the latter as of Monday.
Registration is open for all events until Saturday at midnight, with those registered being able to snag their race-day packages at Chinook Centre from May 4-9. Donations are still being accepted, along with setting up a fundraising page to start raising funds.
Bag check is also available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on race day.
Participants will receive a boatload of goodies and opportunities: a swag bag, promotional offers from Sport Chek, and a finisher medal.
Hundreds of teams have registered for the race, with some having upwards of 13 members.
All races start and finish at the CF Chinook Centre in the east parking lots. There are snacks, activities, a kids craft zone, photo ops and interactive activations available for anyone at the end of the race.

Closures are expected in the area. Information on road closures will be provided when available.
