Man charged with second-degree murder after death at NE Calgary hotel

Calgary police have charged a man with second-degree murder in the death of another man at a Northeast hotel on Sunday night.

Police have charged a man with second-degree murder after a death at a northeast Calgary hotel over the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to the Emerald Hotel and Suites near Sunridge Blvd and 26 Street NE around 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, for reports of someone in medical distress.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside the hotel.

The death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy was complete on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Jerry Wayne Bull.

In an update Wednesday, police say a man has been charged in connection to the death.

Cavan Dillon Cachene, 37, has been charged with second-degree murder. He will appear in court on Thursday.
