Power restored for hundreds north of Airdrie: Fortis Alberta

By CityNews Staff

Power has been restored for hundreds of homes and businesses in the northern Airdrie area affected by an outage on Tuesday morning.

Fortis Alberta said originally 827 customers, as far north as Crossfield, are affected. This later said around 640 homes are affected.

The website also listed a motor vehicle collision as the cause of the outage in the area.

The agency adds it first received word of a glitch just after 7 a.m., but estimated power would be restored at around 11:30 a.m.

Fortis Alberta spokesperson Tanya Croft says crews have been dispatched and are investigating the cause of the outage.

“At this time, the cause of the outage is still under investigation, so we don’t have specific details to share just yet,” she said.
