Senior killed in highway crash near Lethbridge; two others seriously hurt

A Lethbridge man is dead after a highway crash at a rural intersection southeast of the city on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 4 near Range Road 210 around 8:10 p.m. for reports of two-vehicle crash. RCMP say a Volkswagen Jetta and Mitsubshi Outlander collided.

The driver of the Jetta, a 72-year-old Lethbridge man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two occupants of the Outlander were seriously injured. One was flown by STARS and the other was taken by ground ambulance to a Calgary hospital.

RCMP closed Highway 4 for several hours as officers investigated.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
