Two motorcyclists critically hurt in separate weekend crashes

Two motorcyclists are fighting for their lives in hospital after separate crashes in Calgary over the weekend.
Calgary police say the first crash happened around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday near 130 Avenue and 46 Street SE.
Police say a 58‑year‑old man riding a 2019 Harley‑Davidson hit a concrete median and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The second crash happened just over an hour later when a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am was exiting onto Glenmore Trail from southbound Deerfoot Trail.
Police say the car rear‑ended a 2011 Suzuki SV650 ridden by a 30‑year‑old man, sending the motorcycle forward into a 2011 Dodge Durango carrying a driver and four passengers, which was pushed into a 2004 Toyota Camry with two occupants. The Grand Am also struck a 2008 Toyota RAV4 after hitting the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with life‑threatening injuries. The driver of the Grand Am, a 25-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
Police say speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in either crash. Both investigations remain ongoing.
