Woman sexually assaulted in random attack at CTrain station: Calgary police

A woman is in hospital and police are investigating after a random sexual assault at a south Calgary CTrain station early Tuesday morning.
Calgary police say witnesses at the Southland LRT Station parking lot reported a distressed woman who appeared to have been sexually assaulted around 1 a.m.
Investigators believe the victim was attacked by a man she did not know. She was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses described the suspect as a man with an accent and dark brown hair. A mid‑sized black SUV with chrome trim around the windows was seen leaving the area around the time of the assault.
Police say they will increase patrols around the station in the coming days. The woman has been offered support from the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team and Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse.
“The random nature of this assault is extremely concerning to us,” says CPS Staff Sgt. Tom Hanson in a statement. “We are asking the public to remain vigilant until this suspect is found and to connect with us if they have any information to provide.”
