Shaw lays off over 100 Calgary staff

Western Canada’s biggest cable company has announced major layoffs across the country.
Shaw Communications is letting go about 500 people.
140 of the pink slips were handed out in Calgary where Shaw has its head office.
The cuts amount to nearly four per cent of Shaw’s 13,000 person workforce.
The layoffs involve mostly managers but also include some IT and engineering staff.
The company says the measure is part of plans to further streamline Shaw in an ultra competitive market.
