A brand new year-round tennis facility is coming to Calgary.

A sod-turning ceremony is taking place Friday morning for the new Acadia Tennis Centre.

The facility is backed by both Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada and will feature training, development programs and offer court time to residents.

It will have six outdoor courts, eight indoor courts and seating for spectators.

The world-class centre will also have advanced serve tracking technology and video imaging for players to work on their stroke.

It is projected to open in December of 2015.
