The snow has melted but it’s not just the grass that’s being exposed; hundreds of piles of dog feces are lying around thanks to neglectful dog owners.
But the droppings are much more than just an eyesore.
Director of Animal By-Law Services Bill Bruce tells The Calgary Sun, so far this year he’s received more than 200 complaints about the amount of abandoned droppings.
Dog feces can contain parasites that include E-Coli, tapeworm and hookworm.
In some cases, exposure to dog poop can even lead to blindness.
Children are most at risk because their immune systems aren’t able to fight off the bacteria like adults can.
The city is hoping the message gets out for dog owners to scoop up their dog’s poop.
