It might be late in the election campaign, but that’s not stopping Alberta’s
NDP leader from rolling out another policy initiative.
Brian Mason says a New Democratic Party goverment would offer Albertans a home energy retrofit program.
“A plan for a $5000 interest-free loan to home-owners that would allow them to retro-fit their home, whether they need to add more insulation, put in LED lights, low-flush toilets, any of that,” Mason tells 660News. “Then they can pay the loan back from the savings they get on their power and water bills.”
As for the Number 1 issue in the campaign, Mason maintains it is health care.
He also feels his party will have a strong showing when the votes are counted on Monday night, piggy-backing off the momentum of the federal New Democrats in last spring’s general election.
“I was down in Lethbridge yesterday,” adds Mason. “We’ve got some excellent campaigns going there. I went through Calgary. We’ve got great candidates there that are working hard. North and Central Edmonton is just a sea of orange this time. So we’re going to make some real gains in this election.”
While he’s encouraged by his party’s prospects, Mason says he’s also willing to work with a minority government if that’s the result of Monday’s election.
