One dead after semi vs. car crash on Highway 9

One person is dead following a crash northeast of Calgary.

Paramedics were called to Highway 9 near Highway 564 just before noon Saturday.

EMS Spokesperson Stuart Brideaux says the crash involved a semi-trailer truck and a car.

“Upon arrival, paramedics learned from witnesses a car travelling southbound had collided with a northbound semi-truck, causing very, very significant damage to the car. It also resulted in the semi-trailer truck leaving the road and landing in an adjacent field,” Brideaux said.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead on scene. There are no details of the victim’s age or gender available.

The truck driver was able to get out on his own and was not injured.
