CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Protesters in Calgary gathered at the Chinese Consulate Sunday, demanding democracy in the communist country.
Dozens held signs and chanted outside the building downtown, calling for the withdrawal of the Hong Kong Extradition Bill.

Some at the rally also called for the release of Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, who’ve been imprisoned in China about six months.
Protesters said that it’s important to rally in Calgary to show the masses protesting in Hong Kong that they aren’t alone.
“People in Calgary are also supporting them and we want to send a signal, hopefully, to the Hong Kong government saying that hey, everywhere in the world is watching,” said Jacky Yeung, who has been in Canada for 18 years.
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam, has apologized and put the bill on hold in hopes of the protests calming down.
