The festival is touted as one of the best beer festivals in the world.
The Calgary International Beerfest goes Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7 at the BMO Centre.
Bill Robinson with Alberta Beer Festivals says it’s the biggest and best ever. Adding you’ve got tonnes to choose from for sampling with more than 700 flavours, from over 200 breweries.
“We never had this many breweries, distilleries, cideries, eateries, restaurants,” said Robinson.
“This is the most we’ve ever had, ever. It’s kind of neat to see that a whole bunch of places opened up during COVID,” said Robinson.
Robinson says it’s been a long time coming to be able to hold an event without restrictions and bring the community together again.
He says they’ve never had this many participants taking part. And it’s nice to see a lot of new places that opened up during the pandemic.
“There’s a whole bunch of new distilleries and a whole bunch of new breweries. And the breweries you remember from before you haven’t seen in a while it’s a great chance to reconnect with them. And a lot of them are going to be doing very special drinks.
“They’ve got all kinds of creative stuff coming down the pipe so we’re excited about that as well.”
You can sample not just beer but all sorts of spirits and taste the offerings from dozens of restaurants.
