The City of Calgary says its municipal building will remain closed until Monday, Aug. 08, to assess the damages following Tuesday morning’s fires.
The city says the incident caused water damage and affected several services on the third floor, as the sprinkler system was triggered. However, the Calgary Fire Department told CityNews earlier Tuesday no injuries were reported.
The third floor of the building houses the Planning and Development Counter, Fair Entry, including low-income transit passes, and the city’s Cashier and Taxation services.
The city says the services will be moving temporarily to new locations until the municipal building reopens.
Fair Entry services will be moving to the third floor of the Central Library at 800 3 St. S.E. starting on Thursday, until then, people can apply for Fair Entry online or in person at the Village Square Leisure Centre location.
Cashier and Taxation services will also be moved to the third floor of the Central Library starting on Thursday.
The Planning and Development Counter will be moved to the main floor of the Whitehorn Multi-Services Centre at 3705, 35 St. N.E. starting on Thursday. Until then, people can still apply for business licences and permits online.
