Man shot in leg in northeast Calgary

Calgary police kept busy once again on the long weekend with another shooting in the northeast community of Taradale.

Calgary police say an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the northeast community of Taradale Monday night.

It happened on Taravista Drive NE just after 9 p.m. when officers were called to the area for reports of a shooting.

When they got there, police found the man with a non-life threatening gunshot to his leg. They performed emergency first aid to stop the bleeding until EMS was able to take him to a hospital.

Officers say it’s unclear what led to the shooting, and they aren’t sure how many shots were fired.

There are no suspects at this time.

Calgary police add there is no evidence to suggest this shooting is connected with the Oct. 7 drive-by shooting in Langdon, Alta. that killed 39-year-old Trong Minh Nguyen. However, officers are in contact with the RCMP to look into the possibility.

Anyone who has information about what happened, or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. You can also leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
