A man is facing charges related to sexual assault and a knife threat that prompted an emergency response at the University of Calgary (UCalgary) Tuesday.
Police say a woman called CPS around 2 p.m. to say a man approached her from behind and “touched her inappropriately” on Riverfront Avenue SW approaching 2 Street.
That was the same day police received reports of an unknown man “stabbing several people” at the UCalgary campus at around 8:30 p.m.

Investigators say they did not find any victims or witnesses after they canvassed the area. In both incidents, police say there were no physical injuries reported.
A representative from UCalgary told CityNews Wednesday that there was “definitely someone with a knife” on campus, and that the school was working with police to find the man.
In reviewing video, police say they spotted a suspect confront a person before running away, prior to when officers arrived.
Nicklaus Youal Ekhugie, 41, has been arrested and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of sexual assault.
UCalgary alert raises questions
UCalgary raised eyebrows for the messaging it used in its alert to students.
The app message told people to “Run, Hide, and Fight” Wednesday night, sending the wrong idea to some students.
UCalgary says “Run, Hide, Fight” is part of a safety response strategy the school adopted alongside other post-secondary schools throughout North America.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
