The health check included a general body assessment and a blood draw.
The zoo announced the birth of its newest penguin chick on Sept. 24.
“By royal decree, we’re pleased to announce the arrival of the newest member of our royal waddle,” said the zoo on its website.
The zoo adds its tiny chick is born to parents “Grace”, and “Henri.”
“This fluffy chick is the first offspring of sire (dad), Henri and the fourth offspring of dam (mom), Grace, making it the eighth successful king penguin chick to hatch at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo as part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP) breeding program,” the zoo said.
