Nice weather in the forecast means Alberta border crossings will be extra busy this Family Day long weekend.
You’re being reminded to do your part, to help keep wait times low during peak periods.
Canada Border Service’s Sean Best tells 660News, have all you’re purchases added up before you reach the border guard.
“That way they’re not spending their time trying to add up all their purchases while they’re seeing the officer. If they’re going to be waiting 25 or 30 minutes they’ve got lots of time to add up the purchases they’ve made,” says Best.
Best adds, travelers need to remember that if you’re away for 24 hours, you can bring back $200 worth of goods, and if you’re gone for more than 48 hours, you can take home $800 worth.
Last year’s Family Day saw 2,000 travelers returning through the Port of Coutts.
