RCMP in Fort Macleod say there were more acts of vandalism towards the 2SLGBTQ+ community following an incident at a theatre during a Pride event Saturday.
Officers say they received reports of mischief at Centennial Park at around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, where five men were suspected of burning the Pride flag.
The fire department arrived and put the fire out. Mounties are not sure how the flag pole was broken.
This is the second incident on the same day after RCMP arrested two youths suspected of pouring fisher and marten oil inside the Empress Theatre. It is now closed until further notice.
Mounties cannot name the two underage suspects due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act but say the investigation is ongoing.
